Maintaining your Log Cabin

Hunting is one of the hobbies of men who live in the outskirts of the city. Some of the hunting enthusiasts live in log cabins or have such properties just for vacation. Having a log cabin close to the forest is very convenient to those who love hunting since they can keep their tools there. Log cabins, especially if fairly used need a lot of maintaining, too. So if you own one, you might also want to check out tips in keeping it sturdy and in condition. If you have extra time after reading a hunting forum, learn about how you can keep your log cabin looking great all year round.
You cannot avoid any cracks or splits in the walls of your cabin since it is made out of a natural material. Before doing any actual cleaning, check for cracks and fill them up first. To keep the floor looking new and shiny, use a water based varnish. Move the furniture and appliances aside to be able to apply the varnish properly. You can also brush the walls with linseed oil.
Whenever you have extra time to visit your log cabin, or during your hunting time, open the doors and windows once you get there. Let a little breeze and sunshine in on a dry day to avoid dampness and moisture to build up. Too much humidity will result to molding in the wood and fabrics. Also check the hinges of your doors and windows if they are still in pristine condition.
